Grant Middle School Library promotes literacy through:

  • Providing books at all reading levels with our best efforts to have age-appropriate materials.
  • STAR Reading assessment to place students at the appropriate reading level for comprehension growth
  • Accelerated Reading computer testing which gives students the opportunity to computer quiz on books they have read to aid comprehension growth.
There are also literacy and vocabulary quizzes for them to take on the books they read.
The books are leveled in the library with colored dots and reading levels.
    Point values are also indicated.
Students are able to spend points earned at the library, for other school activities.
Two Book Fairs a year, where they can spend their points, are also held.
  • Providing "new reads" to encourage enthusiasm and excitement for reading.
  • Providing a quite atmosphere for students to read and do homework during school hours and, also, before school
